Job Description
An experienced TIG welder, you will lead a small team of welders within a cleanroom environment - playing a key role in fabricating and assembling of large tubes.
You will be responsible for the recruitment, training and assessment of all welders within the department as well as being responsible for all safety related processes and those related with the welding process (Compressed gasses, COSHH, HSE etc.).
You will monitor quality and output to promote continuous improvement and provide support to the manufacturing manager.
Your Responsibilities
Take responsibility for training/performance/development of all welders operating in the cleanroom.
Be responsible for H & S of all welding personnel and processes.
Maintain the clean room environment to avoid particulate contamination and to ensure the highest possible standards of cleanliness.
Review and contribute to the development of work instructions and assembly checklists.
Participate and promote production improvement initiatives.
Be completely familiar with all assembly tasks in the tube assembly area.
Skills and Knowledge
Flexibility - will have sufficient knowledge to be capable of standing in for other technicians working in different areas of the tube production.
Independence - to be able to work without supervision.
Initiative – the make considered decisions and take appropriate actions where required.
Experience with welding pipes/tubes with steel/stainless steel.
Experience
Extensive clean-room experience .
5+ years’ experience in UHV technology and leak checking.
5s, and process improvement experience an advantage.
Ability to coach TIG welding trainees to an appropriate level to support tube production.
Knowledge of all facets of manufacturing processes.
Trained in all aspects of compressed gas handling.
