Job Description

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Buyer to become key player in a pioneering, high-technology, capital equipment OEM.  

Your Responsibilities

Analyse, coordinate and process purchase requisitions.
Obtain quotes from existing vendors and purchase components at a competitive price, ensuring quality and quantity are accurate.
Ensure products arrive as per agreed delivery schedule and in time for production to begin.
Performing volume planning and cost analysis for major commodities (e.g. material, components).
Monitor cost schedule to negotiate best quality and value. Proposal of cost saving recommendations

Skills and Knowledge

Manage Vendor Base, obtaining best prices and lead times with negotiations and vendor visits.
Use ERP system to create and place purchase orders, maintain purchasing system and to monitor purchase orders and Inventory levels.
Purchasing components at the right price within agreed delivery schedules for production requirements. Monitoring status and expediting/rescheduling deliveries if need be.
Arranging faulty goods/excess goods to be returned to vendors. Including the relevant paperwork and organising the dispatch.
Liaising with the Production staff to resolve any materials discrepancies.
Acting on authorised purchase request forms.
Producing relevant system reports regularly.
Ensuring potential problems that could jeopardise the completion of production are communicated to the Purchasing Manager.
Building strong working relationships with Vendors.
Use of MRP when required.
Negotiating with vendors to obtain better pricing, lead times and call offs as required.
Manage Vendor visits as required and when appropriate, to improve control and build solid relationships.
Ensuring Non-Disclosure Agreements are in place where required and renewed regularly.

Experience

Experience purchasing electronics for a manufacturer is essential.
MRP knowledge and strong MS Office skills.
Excellent negotiating, customer service and consulting skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.

ADVANTAGEOUS
Diploma in Procurement & Supply /member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) is Advantageous.
